River Cruising is the Sushi of Travel

Think about a time that a friend invited you to do something you weren’t totally excited about.

Maybe you were nervous, hesitant, or even scared to try something outside your comfort zone. Many of us like to do the same things over and over again because they make us feel safe. (Anyone else like rewatching old TV shows because you like knowing what’s going to happen? 🙋‍♀️)

For me, I was always hesitant to try new foods.

For years, friends would invite me out for Thai, Mediterranean, or Ethiopian food, and I always said no. There was even a time when I met a friend at her favorite falafel place, and I convinced her we should go to the Olive Garden down the street instead! (There’s something about those breadsticks!)

But the food I was most nervous to try was sushi. The reason? I (incorrectly) thought that all sushi included raw fish (which now I know is not the case) and was so repelled by the idea of eating raw fish that no one could change my mind.

How do you feel about sushi ? Are you one of the many people who are afraid of eating sushi too?

Maybe, like me, you’re scared to open the menu, scared you won’t like it, scared you’ll get sick, or scared to ask questions to see if there’s something on the menu you’ll be guaranteed to like.

Okay, you’re probably wondering: Where am I going with this?

River cruises are the sushi of the travel industry.

Hear me out—maybe you’ve been going on ocean cruises or trips to all-inclusive resorts for YEARS now. And you’re hesitant to try something new like a river cruise because you feel it’s better to stick with what you know.

I totally get it.

But here are just a few things about river cruises you might want to know…

✔️You don’t get sea sick - Because rivers don’t have turbulent waves like the ocean, you won’t experience any sickness! You’ll be soothed by the calming motion of the river water.

✔️You’re surrounded by 360° degrees of breathtaking views - Ocean cruises take you TO a destination while river cruises take you THROUGH a destination. Instead of looking out and seeing nothing but miles of ocean around you, you’ll be surrounded by majestic palaces and gorgeous vineyards all around.

✔️You never have to wait in line - River cruises have a 3:1 crew to passenger ratio, meaning you’ll never have to wait in line, whether it’s making your way through the lunch buffet or trying to get help at the reception desk.

Don’t get stuck in your comfort zone. Don’t let the fear of uncertainty keep you from experiencing something new and fun!

And you don’t have to wait for your next trip to try something new. If you’ve never had it, why not spice things up and try some sushi for dinner tonight? (A California roll is a safe choice 😉)
